Too many opinions?! Two helpful steps to keep unsolicited advice at a minimum

May 16, 2020

You are naturally going to want to talk about your wedding A TON! As you should. But, if you aren’t careful in who you are sharing all of your details with, you will soon find yourself inundated with unwanted opinion, comments, and advice. The more opinions can often lead to more self doubt.

Also, if you aren’t mindful, wedding planning can take over every conversation with your fiance. You are in a relationship first and don’t want wedding planning to take away from the joys of everyday life.

Here are two helpful steps to help!

  1. From the start, pick  two people who you TRUST to share all your wedding details with. These two people should be people that you love and that you trust both their opinion and their taste. You want someone who will give you honest feedback with your best interest in mind, as well as someone who will not get offended if you dismiss their suggestions.
  2. Come up with a phrase to tell everyone else when they ask you how your wedding planning is going. Having a quick line you say will make sure you will never get caught off guard, and also not invite opinions that will just overwhelm you (and that you didn’t ask for!).
