Engagement “Honeymoon”

We often think about the post wedding bliss of a honeymoon, time to just enjoy each other, but what about a post engagement honeymoon?! A period of time after you get engaged to really take in this HUGE moment in your relationship.

My big advice to couples once they get engaged, is to set aside a specific amount of time to just enjoy this new chapter and enjoy each other - BEFORE you begin any planning. Once wedding planning starts, it really doesn’t stop until your wedding day! And, it can be A LOT on your relationship, so give yourself some breathing room before you start checking items off your planning to do list.

Can you talk about the wedding during this time? Of course! It’s a great time to talk about what you want in your wedding (and what you DON’T want) and to start finding your wedding identity. Have many conversations over your favorite glass of wine about what you want your wedding to look like, what you want your wedding to feel like, and even more importantly what you don’t want for your planning process and your wedding. Focus on this short special time in your relationship, and save the to-do list until your engagement honeymoon is over.
